Tessera

Pricing

The app is free. Sharing is what costs.

Everything Tessera does on your own machine — every block type, every shape, databases, history, all five export formats — is yours for nothing, for ever, with no account. A plan pays for the servers that let other people into a document. Run your own server and you pay us nothing at all.

Indicative, not final. Tessera is in closed alpha and nothing is being charged. These figures show the shape of the plans rather than a settled price list, and they may change before anyone is asked to pay. Alpha participants will be told what the final prices are before any of this becomes real.

Questions worth answering before you pay

Does the app stop working if I cancel?

No. Everything local keeps working for ever, on the version you have, with no account and no check. What ends is the ability to publish new documents to our servers. Documents already published stay readable and exportable, and your local copy was always the authoritative one — the app keeps a full copy of everything you have opened.

What am I actually paying for?

Servers, storage, backups, and someone keeping them patched. That is the honest answer. If you would rather do those things yourself, the Self-hosted column is the same software with nothing withheld, and it costs you nothing.

Is VAT included?

State the tax position here. In the EU a consumer must be shown the price they will actually be charged, inclusive of VAT, at the rate of their own country. Both Stripe Tax and PayPal can calculate this; decide which and say so.

How do I pay?

By card or through PayPal. Card details are entered on the payment provider's own page, never on this site — Tessera never sees, handles or stores a card number, and there is no field anywhere here that could take one.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. The terms set out the statutory right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU and EEA, and what happens if you ask for immediate access and then change your mind. Outside that, write to hello@studioheino.com and we will sort it out rather than argue about it.

What about my documents if you disappear?

They are already on your disk, as .tnote files you can read in a text editor. That is not a promise about our longevity; it is a property of the file format, and it is the reason the local-first design was chosen before any of this was a business.

Compare

What each plan grants.

Plans map onto the protocol's entitlements, which is the mechanism the collaboration server already uses. The app hides what an account does not hold rather than failing when it is used.

That last row is on the pricing page rather than buried in a policy because it is the thing most worth knowing. Documents on our servers are not end-to-end encrypted; see what is not built.
